Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The PortaMate™ PM-7000 Pro WorkCenter not only functions as an excellent miter saw stand, it can also be used as workstation for a number of bench-top tools, such as portable planers, small band saws, scroll saws and more. Features a quick-mount attachment, outlet power center, storage compartment, extensions that support 16ft. workpieces, adjustable worklight and much more.

Amazon.com Review
There's no denying the immense popularity of the power miter saw. It has pushed the radial-arm saw to the brink of extinction, and become an indispensable tool for professional contractors and do-it-yourselfers alike. However, to get the most out of your power miter saw, you must get it up off the floor and mount it to a sturdy saw stand.

At first glance, the Portamate PM7000 Miter Saw and Power Tool Work Center might just look like a fancy sawhorse, but look closer and you'll discover one of the best portable saw stands on the market. The ruggedly built aluminum stand measures 33 inches tall by 67 inches wide, but it expands to an impressive 9 foot, 8 inches for cutting long moldings, siding or deck boards. The saw attaches to the stand's horizontal rail via a pair of universal mounts. In fact, the mounts can be used to attach other compact benchtop tools, such as a drill press, scroll saw, band saw, or thickness planer.

Other user-friendly features include a four-outlet power strip, 8-inch-diameter wheel for easy mobility, convenient storage compartment and three adjustable work supports that have fold-down rollers. The stand's four legs fold up for storage or for easy transport. And if all that weren't enough, it comes with two invaluable, add-on accessories: a flexible worklight and a heavy-duty cast-aluminum bench vise.

The PM7000 combines useful features and unmatched versatility, with industrial-quality construction and competitive pricing. Bottom line: If you own a power miter saw you've got to get this work center. -- Joseph Truini

4 out of 5 stars great addition   December 29, 2008
Clyde R. Rychel (space capital fl usa)
I received the PM7000 as a gift after researching and looking and I must say it is worth the wait. It came a little questionable as to how it may be but it was ok and so very easy to set up. I have only used it a few days and already I am glad I got it it is well built , sturdy , and the electrical outlet strip is great I plugged in the saw/light/vacumm to the strip and with it I can turn everthing on with the 1 switch located on the unit this is 1 great feature . I know I am going to enjoy using this unit in my retirement making items for family and friends. Thanks

4 out of 5 stars Solid - Worth the money   November 24, 2008
Mustang (Lexington Park, MD United States)
Though it arrived in a box that looked like it had been attacked by a really upset grizzly, the work center was in good shape. It is a solid unit that lives up to its ads. I am quite pleased with it overall. The only issue that prevented a 5 rating is that the handle on the end opposite the wheels must be removed so that the material support can be properly adjusted, a minor but irritating design malfunction. This is a great addition for those who must both move their tools around as well as conserve floor space.

3 out of 5 stars Too low for tall carpenters.   November 22, 2008
Warren C. Jones (Swansea, MA United States)
This is a decent stand if your under 5'-10" . I had to put 3 1/2" riser blocks under my saw which took a little time. The clips that hold the saw to the stand have broken off in under a years worth of use. Handle at wheel end too close to ground when moving saw. Vise is a nice feature. This stand is also made for Craftsman- that should be a clue to what the quality is.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!   September 29, 2008

Within six month the extension arms stick and the fail to support any material. They drop about three inches below the saw height. Not worth the money. I try to buy local but it is net worth the time wasted.

HTC is alive and well and has just moved into a new office and factory in Fair Haven, MI
